I’m pretty sure Ximending requires no introduction to you! Like Shibuya of Tokyo, or Orchard Road of Singapore, Ximending is the trendy shopping area of Taipei. While I have no idea how Ximending looks in the day, I think its a great scene in the night when the electronic adverts and neon lights light up this bustling shopping district. Besides the shops, you can see that the crowd is generally dolled up and the atmosphere is especially youthful.
Moreover, there is no shortage of street food – we simply settled our dinner with them while shopping! One street food worth mentioning and highly recommended by many would be Ah Zong Mian Xian, easily located with a crowd of people eating while sitting on stools outside the store. The queue seems long but it is actually quite fast. Sitting like a local and eating a hot bowl of “mee sua” is an experience worth trying!
Another interesting street food we queued up for was this stick of muah chee, heated on grill and served with your preferred sauce. Simple as it seems, it does taste nice when hot.
Well, there isn’t much to explain about a shopping area (and we didn’t take much photos here), just get ready your feet (and money) and walk about! It is a mainly pedestrian-only district, so no worries about vehicles inching by. By the end of the night, Tiantian and I returned “victorious” with a pair of shoes each. (:
